We’re in Disney now, and it’s quite clear that being visibly disabled isn’t that bad. Being disabled isn’t the best, but being visibly so makes it not too bad. There are others in the group whose injury is more servers than mine, the brain-function scale, but who aren’t physically disabled. They don’t receive looks of understanding if they have a challenge, and don’t receive pretty much any offers of help. Me, on the other hand, is offered help in pretty much every way, all the time, and it’s pretty much impossible for me to do anything without being offered help. I hate to say it, but I like it, but it’s helping me with the need to accept my disability.
