In our crash, the guy who hit us ran, but was caught. He was found guilty, but because he ran, he wan’t found guilty of drunk driving, and got two years in jail. The insurance company recognized what happened, invoked coverage, and while it sucked that we were hit, we were covered.
This guy suffered a hit-and-run, lost consciousness, suffered a brain injury, but the guy wasn’t caught. It’s in BC, which has provincial coverage, and ICBC took him to court, to challenge why they had to pay.
The court ruled that as there wasn’t any concrete proof as to who was at fault, specific person, the case was dismissed, and he receives nothing.
