How a person is after they’re injured with a brain injury is personal. Everyone will likely say something like “you’re doing great!”, or “damn, that’s awesome what you’re doing” – but they’re not the person. Injuries are, in a way, kind of weird because of what it does to the person. It might change their self-perception, what they think of themselves, or something like that. People are doing their best, they’re being awesome, but the person might simply dismiss it because they think that the other feels that they should say it. It’s complicated.
